TheaterTek 1.5 Girder Export Group and Pronto CCF

Note - These new versions of the files are written for TheaterTek DVD version 1.5 and Girder version 3.2 or later. You can download the latest version of Girder from http://www.girder.nl.

The file TheaterTek_1.5.GML is a Girder Export Group that can be be imported into a new or existing Girder file. With your own GML open in Girder, choose Import Group from the File Menu. The export group contains over 90 commands providing complete control of the TheaterTek DVD player. This group can best be used with a programmable/learning remote and IRMan input device, but can also be used with other Girder input plug-ins such as the keyboard driver. The event strings already learned for each command are RC5 codes for use with a Pronto (see below), but you can clear the event strings and learn commands from your own remote.

For Pronto users, a CCF is also included that contains a DVD interface for controlling the TheaterTek player. You can merge this CCF into your own by opening your CCF in ProntoEdit, and then use the File|Open command to open the TheaterTek_1.5.ccf file. When prompted whether you want to merge or replace, choose Merge and the contents of TheaterTek_1.5.ccf will be added to your own CCF.

Note - The file TheaterTek_1.5_RC5200.ccf is contains a version of the Pronto UI that is laid out to take advantage of the Marantz RC5200, which allows more of the screen to be used for custom layout. This file is an export of my personal CCF, and since the "Audio" tab had commands specific to my pre/pro I did not include that panel in the CCF.

The Pronto file is divided into two parts. In the Macro section there is a group containing the TT IR Panels. These panels contain a plain button for each command in the Girder export group. These buttons are already assigned the corresponding RC5 codes that are learned in the girder group. Note that the TheaterTek Pronto CCF is programmed using RC5 System number 8. If you're already using that system in your CCF, you'll need to change the RC5 codes and re-learn them in the Girder group.

There is also a device in the CCF called TT DVD. This contains the actual user-interface that is intended to be used. These buttons are all just aliased to the corresponding commands in the IR Panels. You can either use the panels are they currently are, or you can modify them to suit your needs. Alternately, you can start from scratch and just have your new buttons alias to the TT IR Panels.

You might want to occasionally check my web page at http://home.houston.rr.com/jeffkohn to see if any updates are available, as the latest version of these files will always be available there.

Any feedback or questions are welcome. Probably the best place to ask is the HTPC forum at AVSForum. That way, others besides myself may also be able to help, and lurkers can benefit from any solutions or information that is publicly posted.

Enjoy!
